Below is an outline of the process we follow for a typical design project.
In an initial meeting, we will listen carefully to all of your wants and needs to gain a clear understanding of what you wish to accomplish with the project. We will take what we learned from our initial meeting to create a detailed scope of work, determine a schedule, outline a preliminary overall budget of our time, and draft a letter of agreement to present to you. If this is a remodel, the initial meeting will include photography of all existing areas and establishing if there will be a contractor or architect involved. If this is new construction, the meeting will include the architect and we will request all drawings from the architect electronically.
After the budget and scope of work have been agreed upon we will design new floor plans. If this is a remodel, we will also draft existing floorplans. We will begin to select finishes, appliances, cabinetry, plumbing, bath accessories, lighting, door hardware, and trim. We will order samples as needed, as well as create and assemble concept images of key areas. All of this will be presented to you in a comprehensive manner for input and approval. In this phase of design, all selections are pending, and purely meant to establish an overall style and feel for your home.
During this phase we will prepare all plans, elevations, details, and select all materials, finishes, equipment and fixtures. Selections for furniture, art and accessories will be determined and finalized. If this is a remodel, we will apply for a building permit if necessary. This can include a letter to the homeowners association, a structural engineer letter or drawings, an asbestos test, and a building permit drawing set. This set can be issued to your contractor for pricing as well.
Once all selections have been finalized and every detail is determined, we document this in drawings, schedules and specifications. Upon approval, these are issued to your contractor for construction.
We will submit proposals to you for all furniture, art and accessories. Upon approval we will place all orders. We will be in constant contact with the vendors and shipping departments to follow up on the orders to ensure everything arrives on schedule.
Installation & Implementation
The implementation process involves construction administration and site visits, as well as installation of all furnishings, art and accessories.
